Well, it appears another guy will beat the "Rocket Guy" in a civilian-based, manned rocket launch. I do NOT approve of these projects and believe they may negatively affect our sport. If one or both of these projects fail, the press will spin a negative view of our sport which may have egregious repercussions. Full Story
“I’m going to huff and puff and blow your rocket launch down.” And, that’s exactly what happened at ROC Stock XIII.
Well, there are good launches and bad. We finally had a bad one. This was to be the weekend Chuck was attempting his Level III Certification flight. Chuck had built a beefed-up RDS North Star for his Level III rocket figuring that it would cost less and is a proven design to build upon. As I arrived at Chuck's home in San Diego late Friday, he was applying the final coat of paint. (No matter how much preparation you do, there are always things that need to be done the night before the launch (You'll find this out when you do your certification flights!) Chuck walked me through the details of the rocket: deployment, motor, etc. Every thing looked rock-solid. We didn't need to rush out to Ocotillo in the morning because the rocket was scheduled to fly on Sunday morning. Therefore, we took our time to make sure everything was right...

"The Search for D'Artangan" Two weeks prior at the Delamar launch, the Gates Brothers launched D'Artangan on four K250's. Two on the ground and two air started. It went out of sight (no pun intended.) I decided to load up the kids and trek out to see if I could find it.

Pretto.com / Vidroc.com Hacked!!
Damn, I've had this server running
for about three years and never had
a problem. We received a security
bulletin from Microsoft about a buffer
over run problem with their IP priting
protocol. Send some bytes to the stack
and bam, full control of the box. We reinstalled
the OS and are starting over again. We'll see
how long it last.
Vidroc.com was a huge success. Link here to see the
site. www.vidroc.com. Vidroc was the First,
Live webcast, from an amateur rocket! It was funny because I had several people
tell me the NASA stole my idea because they did a webcast from a Delta rocket
two weeks after Vidroc flew.
